Letter: Appeal for better use of funding

A Dec. 14 story “1 million in state are uninsured” reported that a million people in Washington are without health insurance.

A Dec. 17 story “A windfall for early learning” reported that the federal government gave the state of Washington a $60 million grant to prepare kids to go to kindergarten. Excuse me, but isn’t that the parents’ job?

We have all these people on unemployment and no health insurance. And all the homeless people freezing outside in the winter, all the vets coming home to no jobs. Can’t this money be better spent?

I think our federal officials and our governor are really out of touch with the people in this state and the nation.

Send her a message. I can’t wait for Gov. Chris Gregoire to leave office.
