Columbia River continued an impressive turnaround from one season to the next.

The Chieftains notched their eighth victory in 10 games. Last season, Columbia River went 9-11.

Isaiah Smith scored 24 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and blocked four shots Tuesday in River’s 22-point win over River Ridge of Lacey.

“He pretty much did what he always does,” Columbia River coach David Long said.

River Ridge played a zone early to try to take away from Smith’s inside dominace. So River went to Rian Bassett, who drained four 3-pointers in the first half. Bassett finished with 16 points.

The Chieftains, who are 2-0 in the 3A Greater St. Helens League, have completed their non-league schedule and will return to action after the holiday break.
