Gordon out for Hornets, Pierce for Celtics

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon has been scratched from New Orleans' home opener against the Boston Celtics because of right knee soreness.
Hornets coach Monty Williams says Gordon bumped the knee in Monday night's season-opening win at Phoenix.
Gordon, acquired in a trade that sent Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Clippers, was the Hornets' top scorer in Phoenix with 20 points, hitting a game-winning jumper in the final second.
Boston coach Doc Rivers says forward Paul Pierce is out with a bruised right heel that has caused him to miss Boston's first two regular-season games, while forward Chris Wilcox also is out with a bruised left shoulder.
Williams says Gordon's injury is not serious, but resting him is the wiser move this early in the season.
