Young, Houston squeeze by North Carolina A&T 71-67

HOUSTON (AP) — Joseph Young’s go-ahead 3-pointer with 36 seconds left propelled Houston to a 71-67 victory over North Carolina A&T on Wednesday.

Darian Thibodeaux scored 13 points, including two free throws after Young’s basket had put Houston up 69-67.

Jonathon Simmons also scored 13 and Young 12 for the Cougars (7-5), who won their third in a row. TaShawn Thomas had 10 rebounds and six blocks.

Marc Hill’s 18 points and seven assists led the Aggies (4-11), who have lost eight straight. Nic Simpson hit all four of his 3-pointers and scored 14, Adrian Powell had 12 and DaMetrius Upchurch grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Aggies sank 12 of 24 3-pointers but only 14 of 42 on the rest of their shots.

Houston made 11 of 14 free throws to 3 of 6 for North Carolina A&T.

The lead changed hands 13 times, and neither team ever led by more than seven points.
