PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Tyreek Duren scored 23 points and La Salle defeated Boston University 70-53 on Thursday night to set the Tom Gola Arena record for most consecutive wins with eight.

The Explorers’ streak dates back to last season. They won seven straight from Jan. 29 to Nov. 21, 2006.

Duren also had seven rebounds and five assists for La Salle (9-4), which has won seven of its last eight contests.

The Terriers (4-9) have dropped five straight, breaking the pattern established in their first 12 games in which they lost four, won four and lost four.

Ramon Galloway added 13 points for the Explorers, whose 11-0 run gave them a 25-8 lead with 10:08 remaining in the first half.

Malik Thomas led BU with 17 points. His teammate Darryl Partin, who played two seasons with the Explorers before transferring, had 12 points, well shy of his average of 20.8 points per game.
