Letter: Herrera Beutler’s record is flawed

The Columbian

I see these letters of praise for U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, and ask myself who writes these and what’s the motivation? I have called, emailed and never can get any information on her position until after she votes. Her website is just an ad with little information; she clearly wants us in the dark.

Let’s see. She voted for a radical budget that ends Medicare rather than ending giveaways and tax breaks for the rich; wanted to end funding of Planned Parenthood and NPR; is against abortion but kicks results to the curb; voted to hurt protections for clean air and water; insists on tax breaks for rich while refusing jobs proposals; proposes to end the Medicare guarantee; signed lobbyist Grover Norquist’s “no new taxes” pledge; held hostage the funding for poor and disabled; and joined the attack on Social Security.
