Louisiana Tech pulls away from Spring Hill 69-41

RUSTON, La. (AP) — Freshman Raheem Appleby had 17 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double to lead Louisiana Tech to a 69-41 victory over Spring Hill on Thursday night.

Kenyon McNeail added 14 points, hitting 4 of 5 3-pointers for the Bulldogs (8-6) in the first meeting between the two teams since 1960. Louisiana Tech leads the series 10-5.

The NAIA Badgers, who trailed by as many as eight points in the first half, tied the game at 19 on a Steve Edwards 3-pointer. Louisiana Tech then closed out the half on a 7-0 run.

After Spring Hill got within five, at 32-27, with 16:46 left, Louisiana Tech went on a 13-0 run to pull away, holding the Badgers scoreless for 4 12 minutes.

Frederick Gatson led Spring Hill, which counted the game as an exhibition, with 14 points. Jake Thelen, who was averaging 17.2 points per game, scored four.
