Perunicic leads St. Francis (NY) past Brown 66-49

NEW YORK (AP) — Stefan Perunicic scored 14 points as St. Francis (N.Y.) defeated Brown 66-49 on Thursday to snap a two-game losing streak.

Trailing 16-15, the Terriers (4-8) closed out the first half with a 13-4 spurt.

After Sean McGonagill hit a 3-pointer to get the Bears within five, at 28-23. Brown (5-9) never got closer than six points the rest of the way.

St. Francis took its biggest lead at 66-44 with 2:51 to play on Perunicic’s third 3-pointer.

Akeem Johnson, Travis Nichols and Jalen Cannon added 10 points apiece for the Terriers, and Cannon also had nine rebounds.

St. Francis outshot the Bears in the second half 50 percent (12 of 24) to 25 percent (8 of 32).

The Terriers also had a 41-35 rebounding advantage and blocked six shots, three by Johnson.

McGonagill was the only Brown player in double figures, scoring 19 points on 5-of-18 shooting from the field.
