Rhode Island snaps skid, beats James Madison 79-60

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Orion Outerbridge scored 22 points as Rhode Island snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 79-60 victory over James Madison in the UCF Classic on Thursday night.

The Rams (2-11) will face host Central Florida in the championship game at 7 p.m. Friday, while the Dukes (6-4) will play Stetson in a 9:30 p.m. consolation game.

Outerbridge, a 6-foot-9 freshman from Boston, had two 3-pointers in the Rams’ 16-4 run to start the game and 16 first-half points as Rhode Island took a 38-26 halftime lead.

Billy Baron scored 17 points and Jonathon Holton 12 for the Rams. This was Rhode Island’s first game without leading scorer Jamal Wilson, who has been dismissed from the team for violating team rules.

Arman Marks and A.J. Davis each scored 10 points for James Madison.
