DENTON, Texas (AP) — Will Neighbour and D’Andre Williams scored 19 points each to lead UALR to a 69-66 victory against North Texas on Thursday night.

In a rematch of last year’s Sun Belt tournament championship game, Neighbor had 11 rebounds and Chuck Guy added 12 points for the Trojans (4-10, 1-0).

After Williams went 1 of 2 from the free-throw line with eight seconds remaining, the Mean Green (7-7, 0-1) had the last shot, but Jordan Williams’ 3-point try missed.

Alzee Williams scored 14 points and Jordan Williams 10 for North Texas. Tony Mitchell, a heralded recruit who came to the Mean Green after the NCAA declared him academically ineligible at Missouri, averaged 12.5 points in his first four games but was held to six points and fouled out after 13 minutes.

Last year, UALR beat North Texas 64-63 in the Sun Belt tournament title game on a 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds left.
