3 score more than 20, Colgate beats Longwood 97-86

HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) — Joe Hoban scored 22 points, dished out 13 assists and led three Colgate players in scoring more than 20 points in a 97-86 win over Longwood on Wednesday night.

Pat Moore scored 23 points and Mike Venezia added 21 on 6-of-6 shooting from 3-point range for the Raiders (5-17). Yaw Gyawu made all four of his 3-pointers for 12 points, and Colgate shot 68.8 percent from long range (11 of 16) as part of 33-for-50 shooting from the field. Gyawau, who had 997 career points heading in, crossed the 1,000-point milestone.

The Raiders never trailed and led by as many as 17 in the first half.

Longwood got to 52-50 on Jeremiah Bowman’s layup with 15:53 left. But Colgate went on a 13-4 run, capped by Moore’s 3 with 11:56 remaining. The Lancers (8-17) wouldn’t get any closer than nine the rest of the way.

Antwan Carter scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Longwood.
