INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Fever signed veteran center Tangela Smith to a multiyear deal on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-4 Smith, entering her 14th WNBA season, has career averages of 11.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 34.5 percent shooing on 3-pointers in 415 games with Sacramento, Charlotte and Phoenix. An All-Star with the Sting in 2006, she was on the Mercury’s championship teams in 2007 and 2009.

“Her experience, speed, quickness, length and 3-point shooting ability will be huge assets to our team,” Fever coach Lin Dunn said in a release. “Anytime you can sign a player who has two WNBA championship rings, it’s great for the franchise.”

Smith is fifth on the league’s career scoring list (4,773 points), sixth in rebounds (2,216) and fourth in blocks (538). She averaged 9.2 points and 5.2 rebounds for Phoenix last season.

Smith, who will turn 34 on April 1, is the fourth former All-Star on the Fever, joining Tamika Catchings, Katie Douglas and Tammy Sutton-Brown. She will replace Ebony Hoffman, who signed with Los Angeles.

Indiana opens the season June 4 against Chicago.
