INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson is back on the national team, another milestone in her comeback.

As a national team member, Johnson is eligible to compete internationally. She hopes to return to competition later this year.

Johnson took almost two years off after winning four medals at the Beijing Olympics, gold on balance beam and silvers in the team competition, all-around and floor exercise. Despite blowing out her left knee while skiing last February, she resumed training last summer and returned Monday from her second national team training camp at the Karolyi ranch.

Johnson is the second member of the 2008 squad to make a comeback. Alicia Sacramone returned last year and won the vault title at the world championships.
