TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Maple Leafs signed checking-line winger Mike Brown to a three-year contract extension Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 25-year-old Brown is in the final year of a contract that pays him $575,000.
Brown has two goals and three assists in 26 games for the Maple Leafs this season. He suffered an undisclosed upper-body injury in Toronto’s 4-3 shootout win over Florida on Tuesday.
Brown was acquired from Anaheim in for a fifth-round pick at the entry draft last June.
Toronto GM Brian Burke said in a statement that Brown’s “blend of character, energy and toughness has proven to be a good fit in the overall structure and makeup of our team.”
