LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (AP) — Police in the Portland suburb of Lake Oswego have arrested the volunteer treasurer of two youth sports leagues and a school parents club, accusing her of embezzling $86,000.

Lt. Doug Treat says 45-year-old Renae Marlee Mason turned herself in to police Thursday, then was booked into the Clackamas County Jail. She is accused of five counts of first-degree aggravated theft and one count of first-degree theft. Bail was set at $140,000.

Treat tells the Oregonian that Mason became treasurer last year for Lake Oswego Junior Baseball, Lake Oswego Youth Football and the Lake Oswego Junior High School Parent Club.

The missing money came to light after baseball officials noticed some irregular account transfers and conducted an audit.

Mason’s lawyer Kevin Davenport says his client wants to make restitution.
