Here is a press release from the Washington Department of Transportation:

Drivers on State Route 14 near Cape Horn should plan ahead to avoid long delays during rock blasting work Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Contractor crews will close both directions of SR 14 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. while they blast a straighter path for the highway slightly to the north of where it exists today.

This work is part of a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) safety improvement project. The $6.5 million SR 14, Cape Horn Bridge to Cape Horn Road project straightens curves on SR 14 and constructs turn lanes at key intersections in western Skamania County.

Drivers can expect a few more one-hour rock blasting closures early this year. WSDOT will provide advanced notice when are scheduled.

The project is expected to be complete this fall.
