Tennessee Tech rallies past Eastern Kentucky 63-54

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Kevin Murphy scored 25 points and Alfred Jones had a career-high 14 rebounds to help Tennessee Tech rally for a 63-54 win over Eastern Kentucky on Thursday night.

The Golden Eagles (12-9, 8-4 Ohio Valley Conference) stayed within a game of league-leading Austin Peay and have won three in a row for the first time this year.

The Colonels (12-11, 6-6), who lost for the first time in six road games, had a 26-20 lead 1:03 into the second half.

Tennessee Tech then went on a 9-0 run to lead 29-26. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 11 points in the second half, at 54-43 with 5:09 to go.

Murphy was 10 of 15 from the floor (66.7 percent), while the rest of his team shot 11 of 38 (28.9 percent).

Tennessee Tech also had a 42-27 rebounding advantage.

Spencer Perrin scored 18 to lead Eastern Kentucky, which came in having won five of its last six.
