WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Sandro Carissimo scored 14 points to lead Vermont to a 61-47 victory over Hartford on Thursday night, the Catamounts’ sixth consecutive victory.

Brian Voelkel had 12 rebounds for Vermont (18-5, 9-2 America East Conference), which swept the season series and has won 11 straight games against the Hawks (7-15, 4-5).

Vermont led throughout, but the Hawks, who have lost three straight games, cut the deficit to 34-29 on Milton Burton’s jumper with 35 seconds left in the first half.

The Catamounts opened the second half on an 11-2 run and led by at least 10 points the rest of the way, despite shooting only 39.1 percent from the field (18 of 46) in the game.
