VANCOUVER — Motorists can now check out some new angles on state Highway 14 in Vancouver.

The Washington Department of Transportation this week brought online new traffic cameras at Blandford Drive, Shorewood Drive, Cascade Park Drive and Southeast 164th Avenue.

“When combined with the existing network, these cameras give our crews and drivers nearly complete coverage on SR 14 between I-5 and Southeast 164th Avenue,” DOT traffic engineer Chad Hancock said.

The cameras are complemented by two new electronic message boards along the westbound lanes. The signs and cameras were funded through a $700,000 federal grant intended to improve traffic flow by giving motorists better real-time information.

The DOT plans to install five more cameras along Highway 14 in the next three years, including several between Camas and Washougal. The real-time images can be accessed online at http://wsdot.wa.gov/Traffic/Cameras.
