Lafayette holds off Holy Cross 76-70

EASTON, Pa. (AP) — Levi Giese scored a career-high 19 points and Lafayette held off Holy Cross 76-70 on Saturday.

Lafayette built an 18-point lead late in the first half and staved off Holy Cross rallies in the second half by going 10 of 11 from the free-throw line in the final 20 minutes.

The Crusaders twice cut the led to two points in the final four minutes. A 3-pointer by Mike Cavataio made it 72-70 with 25 seconds left, then Lafayette made four free straight throws.

Lafayette went 6 for 6 from the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds to preserve the win.

Jim Mowser added 13 points and Jared Mintz had 10 for the Leopards (9-14, 4-4 Patriot League), who won at home for the third time in a row in the series.

Devin Brown scored 17 points, Andrew Keister added 14, Eric Obeysekere had 12 and Cavataio 11 for the Crusaders (4-18, 3-5), who have lost four straight games.
