MORAGA, Calif. (AP) — Matthew Dellavedova broke out of a three-game shooting slump to score 23 points, Mickey McConnell added 16 points and 10 assists and Saint Mary’s held on to beat Loyola Marymount 79-70 on Saturday night.

Rob Jones scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds while Mitchell Young also had 15 points to help the Gaels (20-4, 8-1 West Coast) to their second straight win following last week’s loss to Portland.

Saint Mary’s, which made it to the regional semifinals before losing to Baylor last season, remained in first place in the WCC and reached the 20-win plateau for the fourth straight year under coach Randy Bennett.

Ashley Hamilton scored 16 points for Loyola Marymount (9-15, 1-8), which has lost seven of eight. The Lions played without leading scorer Drew Viney, who was scratched from the lineup before the game due to a migraine headache.
