SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) — Orlando Johnson scored a career-high 39 points, including eight in overtime, to lead UC Santa Barbara to a 93-86 victory against UC Davis on Saturday night.

Johnson made 14 of 17 free-throw attempts, including 6 of 6 while the Gauchos (12-9, 5-5 Big West) went on a 7-0 run in the last 2:03 of overtime. James Nunnally added 23 points.

Mark Payne scored a career-high 33 points and Josh Ritchart had 17 for the Aggies (8-14, 3-7), who went to OT for the second time in three games. Joe Harden, UC Davis’ leading scorer (15.4 points per game) entering Saturday’s play, had seven points before leaving with an undisclosed injury late in the first half.

UC Santa Barbara began the extra period with three baskets; after each score, UC Davis responded with a pair of free throws. But after Eddie Miller’s foul shots made the score 86-86, that was it for the Aggies, who missed their final six shots from the floor.

Payne’s jumper with five seconds remaining in regulation tied the score at 80-all and forced overtime.
