Robinson scores 26, Rider beats Fairfield 96-87

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Justin Robinson led all five Rider starters in double figures with 26 points in a 96-87 win over Fairfield Sunday.

Novar Gadson added 21 points, Mike Ringgold 17, Jonathon Thompson 13 and Danny Stewart 11 for the Broncs (17-8, 9-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).

Rider, the conference leader in field-goal percentage (47.3), shot 48.4 percent (30 of 62) and scored 25 points off 13 turnovers against the Stags (18-5, 11-2).

After Fairfield went up 6-5 early the Broncs went on a 9-2 run to lead 14-8 on Gadson’s layup with 15:54 left in the first half. Rider stretched its lead to as many as 23 points, 47-24, on Thompson’s free throw with 3:28 to play.

Rider, No. 3 in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage coming in (40.8) was 6 of 13 against Fairfield, including three by Robinson.

Ryan Olander scored 23 points for the Stags, whose six-game win streak ended.
