The Fort Vancouver National Trust is seeking input from arts organizations, educators and artists about a possible role for the Post Hospital as an arts education center and art museum.

Artists of all disciplines and interested members of the public are invited to a community conversation on Feb. 15 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. at the Pearson Air Museum, 1115 E. Fifth St.

Participants may schedule an optional guided tour of the building on Thursday.

The Feb. 15 conversation will include potential uses of the space and brainstorming sessions on four topics: visual arts; dance and music; theater; and literary arts.

The Post Hospital opened in 1905 and aided in the recovery of more than 20,500 Spanish flu patients in 1918. It most recently served as office space for the U.S. Army, but has been vacant since the mid-1990s.

The Post Hospital is owned by the city of Vancouver, but the Fort Vancouver National Trust holds the lease for the building and is considering it as a venue for arts and arts education.

To reserve a spot in the Feb. 15 conversation or to schedule a Thursday tour of the hospital, call the Fort Vancouver National Trust, 360-992-1804.
