Slash burn set Thursday on Highway 14 in Gorge

Motorists driving through the Columbia River Gorge may notice smoke Thursday from a planned slash burn near Dog Mountain, off state Highway 14.

The slash material is left over from a thinning project designed to reduce the risk of wildfire in the area, just past the Dog Mountain trailhead, 53 miles west of Vancouver. The fire will be weather-dependent.
