The Clark County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man suspected of raping a woman at knife point in a Hazel Dell parking lot and attacking another woman three days later.

The sheriff’s office tactical detective unit has arrested 21-year-old Dshawn Carr, a transient in the Vancouver area, on suspicion of first-degree rape and kidnapping charges. The arrest, which was announced Wednesday, came after Carr allegedly attacked two women a week earlier.

The first incident occurred about 10 p.m. Jan. 30. A woman walking along Highway 99 was confronted by a man with a knife. The woman was raped at knife point in the parking lot of a used car lot on the 9400 block of Highway 99, according to police.

During the attack, the woman remembered hearing people walk by the parking lot, according to the sheriff’s office news release.

The second attack occurred at about 6:30 p.m. Feb. 2. A female customer at the WinCo at 9700 Highway 99 was loading groceries into her vehicle when she was attacked by a man. The suspect was attempting to force the woman into the vehicle when a witness saw the altercation and scared the man away, according to police.

The sheriff’s office arrested Carr on suspicion of committing both attacks. Carr is currently lodged at the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and second-degree kidnapping.

Police are now asking for the public’s help in the case. Anyone who witnessed the attacks or experienced a similar attack is asked to contact Sgt. Duncan Hoss at 397-2211, ext. 3362.

Carr is described as a black man standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.
