A Vancouver man was sentenced to 10-1/2 years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of first-degree robbery relating to a home-invasion killing.

Garold T. Jacobsen, 28, was the last defendant in the Dec. 13, 2009, Charles N. Moore homicide case to be sentenced today.

“It’s over,” whispered Dorothy Moore, Charles Moore’s mother, as Jacobsen was ushered out of the courtroom following sentencing.

Initially charged with first-degree murder as an accomplice, Jacobsen accepted a plea deal to the robbery charges. He told Clark County Superior Court Judge Roger Bennett that he went along with a group to Moore’s home, believing it was only going to be a robbery.

Codefendant Douglas Marquis shot Moore in the chest during a confrontation, as the other robbers ransacked the house on St. James Road, stealing items.

“I would give anything to give back that awful night,” Jacobsen said. “I just wish I had enough strength to stand up and stop what had happened.”
