Kennesaw State beats Florida Gulf Coast 69-68

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Spencer Dixon nailed a 3-pointer with 7 seconds on the clock to lift Kennesaw State over Florida Gulf Coast 69-68 on Thursday night.

The Owls (7-17, 5-9 Atlantic Sun Conference) trailed 68-66 before Dixon stepped back and knocked down the game-winner. Christophe Varidel missed a 3-pointer as time expired to seal the win for Kennesaw State.

A jumper by Varidel with 24 seconds remaining gave the Eagles (6-17, 3-11) a two-point lead before Dixon’s game-winning 3-pointer.

Anthony Banks scored 17 points, Varidel finished with 15 and Kevin Cantinol added 12 for Florida Gulf Coast.

Kelvin McConnell scored 19 points, Dixon finished with 18, Markeith Cummings had 14 and LaDaris Green 13. Green also grabbed 13 rebounds to earn his third straight double-double.

Cummings and McConnell became the 12th and 13th players in school history to amass 1,000 career points.
