Cinetopia, which opened its first Vancouver theater in 2005, plans to build a 20-screen movie complex in Overland Park, Kan., as part of a $588 million retail development in the Kansas City suburb.

The new Cinetopia is scheduled to open in 2013 and will be the fourth venue for the expanding company. Cinetopia is owned and operated by Rudyard Coltman, who brought the living-room theater concept to the Portland metro area with his first eight-screen theater at 11700 S.E. Seventh St., Vancouver.

Construction on two additional theaters is under way. Cinetopia’s 14-screen theater in Beaverton, Ore., is scheduled to open in May, and its 23-screen theater at the Westfield Vancouver mall is slated to open in November.
