GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) — Organizers have canceled the final women’s downhill training session to prevent damage to the course because of warm weather.

The training session for the world championships was scheduled for Saturday afternoon, following the men’s race on the same Kandahar course in Germany.

Relatively high temperatures have softened the snow on the slope, which this week had been described by many racers as too icy and too bumpy.

The women already had two downhill training sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. The downhill event will be held Sunday.
