Bucknell rallies, then holds off Holy Cross 60-56

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Bryson Johnson hit the tie-breaking 3-pointer and Mike Muscala added a clinching three-point play with 13 seconds left to help Patriot League leader Bucknell hold off Holy Cross 60-56 on Saturday.

The Bison (18-8, 9-1), who have won three straight and 12 of their last 13 games, rallied from a 23-12 deficit with 7:58 to go in the first half.

Bucknell opened the second half with a Bryan Cohen layup to pull ahead 30-29, holding the lead until Andrew Keister scored on a three-point play, then a layup to tie it at 54 with 1:07 remaining.

Johnson’s 3 made it 57-54 with 32 seconds left, then Devin Brown’s layup cut the gap to one.

After Muscala scored on a dunk and free throw to finish with 15 points, the Crusaders (5-19, 4-6) missed a 3 and a jumper.

Brown scored 20 for Holy Cross, which has lost five its last six.

The Crusaders had a 42-29 rebounding edge.
