George Mason beats James Madison 82-68

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Ryan Pearson scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half and George Mason overcame a 12-point deficit to win its 11th game in a row, beating James Madison 82-68 on Saturday.

The Patriots (21-5, 13-2 Colonial Athletic Association) tied a program record for consecutive victories and moved into sole possession of first place in the conference.

George Mason trailed 21-9, but rallied behind reserve Vertrail Vaughns’ three 3-pointers in the first half. The Patriots took a 39-35 lead on a floater by Cam Long with 1:13 remaining in the half.

Pearson hit a 3-pointer and putback off Mike Morrison’s miss during a 7-0 run, pushing George Mason’s advantage to 58-46 early in the second half. The Dukes pulled no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Devon Moore and Julius Wells each scored 14 points for the Dukes (18-9, 8-7), who have lost three of their last four games.
