IUPUI edges North Dakota State 76-72

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Alex Young scored 24 points and IUPUI defeated North Dakota State 76-72 on Saturday night.

Young was 11 of 18 from the field for the Jaguars (16-11, 10-4 Summit). IUPUI fell behind 12-4, but then blistered the Bison for the remainder of the first half, going on a 28-4 run and eventually leading 41-20.

North Dakota State (13-12, 7-8) got within 72-70 when Mike Felt hit a 3-pointer with 20 seconds to go. But Leroy Nobles and John Ashworth each made a pair of free throws to seal the win for IUPUI, which made 16 of 17 from the foul line in the game.

Nobles had 16 points and Stephen Thomas had 11 points, nine in the first half, for the Jaguars. Michael Tveidt led the Bison with 21 points, and Taylor Braun scored 18 points.
