Schlierenzauer wins ski jumping World Cup event

VIKERSUND, Norway (AP) — Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer beat world record holder Johan Remen Evensen of Norway in a ski jumping World Cup event Sunday.

The Olympic team gold medalist scored a combined 487.5 points after jumps of 227 and 237.5 meters.

The 25-year-old Evensen finished with 476.7 points. He had jumped a world record 246.5 meters in qualifying Friday.

Adam Malysz of Poland claimed third place, just ahead of double Olympic champion Simon Ammann of Switzerland.

World Cup points leader Thomas Morgenstern of Austria was fifth.
