SAN DIEGO (AP) — The Mountain West Conference has reprimanded San Diego State basketball coach Steve Fisher after he criticized Wyoming for firing coach Heath Schroyer last week.
Fisher said during a teleconference on Monday that it was wrong for Wyoming to fire Schroyer with six weeks to go in the season. The Cowboys were 8-15 overall and 1-8 in the conference at the time, and were 49-68 overall under Schroyer, who had three years left on his contract.
Fisher’s Aztecs, ranked No. 6, will try to improve to 26-1 when they host New Mexico on Wednesday.
