CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Jovonni Shuler scored 25 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime, as Savannah State outlasted The Citadel 65-61 on Monday night for its sixth win in seven games.

The Tigers (8-18), who defeated the Bulldogs for the first time in their eight-game series, overcame a 10-point second-half deficit and led by three with 1:53 left in regulation.

The Citadel’s Mike Groselle scored on a layup, then hit 1 of 2 free throws to tie it at 55, forcing overtime.

Groselle also scored the first basket of the extra period, but Savannah State used a 7-0 run, sparked by Shuler’s 3-pointer, to take the lead for good.

Joshua Montgomery added 15 points and Preston Blackmon 13 for the Tigers, who were coming off a 75-56 loss to Longwood on Saturday.

Zach Urbanus had 17 points to pace the Bulldogs (9-18), who have lost five straight after a four-game winning streak.
