Akron blows out Bowling Green 89-54

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Brett McClanahan scored 18, Darryl Roberts added 17 and Quincy Diggs had 16 to lead Akron to an 89-54 blowout win over Bowling Green on Tuesday night.

The Zips (16-10, 7-5 Mid-American Conference) led 41-23 at halftime and started the second half on a 37-15 run, extending their lead to 78-38 with 8:08 remaining.

Akron shot 58.6 percent from the floor (17 of 29), including 9 of 15 from 3-point range (60 percent) in the second half compared to 27.8 percent overall (10 of 36) for the Falcons.

A’uston Calhoun scored 18 points and Scott Thomas added 10 for Bowling Green (12-14, 7-5).

McClanahan, Roberts and Diggs went 11 for 15 from beyond the arc (73.3 percent). Nikola Cvetinovic pulled down 11 rebounds for Akron, which outrebounded the Falcons 44-33.

The 35-point margin of victory for the Zips was their largest since a 78-41 win over Eastern Michigan on Feb. 3, 2009.
