Bond leads way as Ball State beats Toledo 83-62

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Freshman Chris Bond recorded his first double-double to lead Ball State to an 83-62 victory over Toledo on Tuesday night.

Bond finished with a career-high 18 points and 10 rebounds to go along with five steals, and the Cardinals (15-10, 7-5 Mid-American Conference) completed a season sweep of the Rockets. Jauwan Scaife added 17 points and Jarrod Jones had 14.

Reese Holliday matched Bond with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Malcolm Griffin had 13 points for Toledo (4-22, 1-11), which lost its eighth straight.

Ball State outrebouned the Rockets 38-24 and scored 26 points off Toledo’s 24 turnovers.

The Cardinals went into halftime up 40-32. After the Rockets cut it to 41-37 early in the second half, Ball State put together a 13-2 run and led by double digits the rest of the way.
