JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State hired Grant Heard as its quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.

The hiring was announced Wednesday and it completes the staff of new coach Hugh Freeze.

New coach Hugh Freeze announced the hiring in a news release Wednesday.

Heard most recently spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons as the offensive coordinator at Lambuth University, where he coached under Freeze. Before that, he had worked stints at Western Michigan, Mississippi and North Carolina State.

Heard was a wide receiver for Ole Miss, graduating 2001 as the Rebels’ career leader in receptions.
