Miami (Ohio) holds off Kent State 86-80 in OT

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Nick Winbush scored 26 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Miami (Ohio) over Kent State 86-80 in overtime on Wednesday night.

Julian Mavunga added 17 points and 17 rebounds for the RedHawks (14-12, 9-3 Mid-American Conference), who allowed a 3-pointer from Rodriguez Sherman with 8 seconds remaining in regulation that tied it at 66 and forced the extra frame.

Miami fell behind 70-69 with 3:29 left in OT, but scored nine straight points to take a 78-70 lead with 46 seconds on the clock.

Allen Roberts added 16 points, Orlando Williams had 14 and Josh Sewell 11 for the RedHawks, who trailed 46-33 with just over 14 minutes left in regulation.

Sherman finished with 25 points and Carlton Guyton added 24 for the Golden Flashes (17-8, 8-3), who had their six-game winning streak snapped.

Justin Manns grabbed 10 rebounds for Kent State.
