RIDGEFIELD — Mayor Ron Onslow presented South Ridge Elementary with a proclamation from the city of Ridgefield declaring Feb. 4 as “South Ridge Elementary Day in Ridgefield.” This event commemorated more than 50 years of excellence at South Ridge.

Mayor Onslow presented the proclamation to Janice Sauve, South Ridge principal, during a student body assembly. Speedy, the Roadrunner Mascot, was there to welcome guests and promote school spirit. Special recognition was given to Jodi Fontyn, school secretary, who attended South Ridge as a child. As the speakers recanted memories of the past, newly created memories were being made for the current student body.
