SEATTLE (AP) — Dozens of protesters angry over a King County prosecutor’s decision not to charge a Seattle police officer in the fatal shooting of a woodcarver roamed Seattle streets on Friday night. A police cruiser’s back window was broken out and some marchers threw rocks and bottles. When one group of protesters tested a police line, bicycle officers responded with pepper spray.
The crowd marched for about three hours, chanting, “No justice, no peace! No racist police!” and other slogans before finally dispersing.
Protesters also marched Wednesday after King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg said he would not file criminal charges against Seattle police Officer Ian Birk in the fatal shooting of John T. Williams last August. Birk resigned hours after Satterberg’s announcement.
