Evans lifts Saint Louis to 61-56 win vs. Charlotte

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Dwayne Evans had 16 points and 12 rebounds Saturday as Saint Louis defeated Charlotte 61-56.

Mike McCall added 13 points and Rob Loe 12 for the Billikens (9-17, 4-9 Atlantic 10), who snapped a four-game losing streak.

Javarris Barnett had 17 points and Derrio Green 13 for Charlotte (10-16, 2-10), which has lost four straight and seven of its last eight.

In a game that featured 13 ties and 10 lead changes, neither team led by more than four points until the Billikens went on a 7-0 run to take a 51-44 lead with 6:45 remaining. McCall began the run with a 3-pointer and Evans closed it with two baskets.

Charlotte used a 7-0 run of its own to get within 57-56 on Green’s 3-pointer with 2:21 left. After Kyle Cassity’s layup extended Saint Louis’ lead to 59-56 with 46 seconds left, the 49ers came up with three offensive rebounds on their next possession but missed on all four shot attempts.
