NEW YORK (AP) — Junior guard Ashton Gibbs has returned to play for No. 4 Pittsburgh after missing three games with an MCL injury in his left knee.

Gibbs, the sixth-leading scorer in the Big East with a 16.3 average, went into Saturday’s game against St. John’s with 15 minutes left in the first half and the Panthers trailing 10-7.

Gibbs, whose 3.2 3-pointers per game is sixth in the nation and whose 46.3 percent accuracy from behind the arc is seventh in the nation, missed the Panthers’ wins over West Virginia, Villanova and South Florida.

Without Gibbs, the Panthers were 6 of 29 on 3s, well off their 38.3 percent that leads the Big East.
