Mellouli wins third race at Missouri Grand Prix

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Tunisian Olympic gold medalist Oussama Mellouli won the men’s 400-meter freestyle on Saturday at the Missouri Grand Prix, his third win of the weekend.

Mellouli won with a time of 3:46.64, beating American Charlie Houchin by 3 seconds.

Rebecca Soni set her second pool record in two nights with a gold in the 200 breastroke. She finished with a time of 2:23.27, more than 5 seconds ahead of Alia Atkinson.

Jessica Hardy won the women’s 50 freestyle with a time of 25.15 seconds, topping a strong field that included second-place finisher Amanda Weir and Olympian Kara Lynn Joyce.

Forty-three-year-old Dara Torres finished sixth in the 50 free in her first race since the 2009 world championships. Torres is recovering from reconstructive knee surgery and is aiming for her sixth Olympics next year.
