BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — The Border Policy Research Institute at Western Washington University is studying wait times at the Canadian border.

The institute says it received $49,000 to collect and analyze data on wait times. It’s part of a pilot project to examine alternative use of a dedicated truck lane at the Blaine, Wash., crossing. Some have questions whether the lane should continue.

The institute will conduct field research starting Tuesday and through April 14. Money is provided by the Washington State Department of Transportation.
