Both Evergreen High basketball teams are bound for Richland for the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs.

The Plainsmen teams lost seeding games on Monday, which decided where the teams will play on Friday.

BOYS: Olympia 57, Evergreen 51 — The Plainsmen are headed to Richland for the first round of the state playoffs after losing their seeding game to Olympia at Auburn High School.

Caleb Dressler scored 16 points to go with 16 rebounds and four blocked shots for Evergreen. Warren Edmondson added 11 points, and Tre Clark 10.

Olympia pulled away from a 45-44 deficit after three quarters by hitting big shots and playing tough defense on Dressler.

Evergreen will play at 5:45 p.m. Friday at Richland High School against an opponent to be determined. If the Plainsmen win, they play again at 3 p.m. Saturday for a spot in the final eight at the Tacoma Dome.

GIRLS: Mount Tahoma 59, Evergreen 37 — Cold shooting, too many turnovers and a quick start by Mount Tahoma was too much for Evergreen in the game played at Stadium High School.

The Plainsmen struggled through 27 percent shooting and committed 21 turnovers.

Justine Joudrey scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds, and Shamerica Scott had eight points and 12 rebounds.

“We have bounced back from bad losses before, and we’ll have to do it again,” Evergreen coach Jay Foreman said.

Evergreen will next play at 4 p.m. Friday at Richland High School against a team to be determined. If Evergreen wins, they play again at 1 p.m. Saturday for a spot in the final eight at the Tacoma Dome.
