Novosel leads No. 8 Irish past No. 19 W. Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Natalie Novosel scored 22 points to lead No. 8 Notre Dame to a 72-60 win over West Virginia on Tuesday night.

Devereaux Peters added 16 points for the Irish (23-5, 12-2 Big East), who beat the Mountaineers for the 18th time in 20 all-time meetings.

Sarah Miles scored 16 points and Madina Ali added 12 for West Virginia (21-7, 7-7). The Mountaineers trailed by double digits for most of the second half and lost for the fourth time in five games.

Notre Dame saw its nine-game winning streak end in a 78-57 loss at No. 2 Connecticut on Saturday in which the Irish shot just 36 percent from the floor.

Notre Dame bounced back against West Virginia, hitting 58 percent (30 of 52) of its field goals. Most of them were layups.
