Amis, Johnson lead Hawaii by Louisiana Tech 71-58

HONOLULU (AP) — Bill Amis scored 18 points, Zane Johnson added 16 and Hawaii went on a 25-6 run over a 10-minute span bridging the halves in a 71-58 victory over Louisiana Tech on Thursday night.

Jeremiah Ostrowski had 12 points and seven assists, and Vander Joaquim contributed 11 points and nine rebounds for the Rainbow Warriors (16-10, 6-7 Western Athletic Conference), who made 22 of 44 shots.

Lonnie Smith scored 12 points for Louisiana Tech (12-17, 2-11), which shot 19 of 51.

Hawaii went 7 of 10 in taking a 17-4 lead seven minutes into the game. Louisiana Tech got within 24-18 after Tevin Hall’s free throw with 7:19 left before the Rainbow Warriors took over.

Hawaii outscored Louisiana Tech 17-4 over the rest of the half for a 41-22 lead, then went on an 8-2 run to start the second half for its largest lead at 49-24 with 16:42 remaining.
