OSLO, Norway (AP) — Marit Bjoergen of Norway powered to a convincing win in the women’s cross-country sprint Thursday at the Nordic world championships.
The three-time Olympic champion led the entire race to cross in 3 minutes, 3.9 seconds in the 1.3-kilometer event. Reigning world champion Arianna Follis trailed the Norwegian by 0.2 seconds. Petra Majdic of Slovenia was third.
American Kikkan Randall leads the World Cup sprint standings. Her gold-medal hopes ended when she fell in the quarterfinal.
